Carbonaceous matter

May 20, 2011 by Donna

On May 14, 1864, twenty masses, some as large as a human head, fell at Montauban, France. They were composed of a substance that “resembled a dull-colored earthy lignite,” according to Dr. Walter Flight in Eclectic Magazine, 89-71.

–Charles Fort, The Book of the Damned, p. 76 (The Complete Books of Charles Fort, Dover, c1974).
