Niles’ Weekly Register of Nov. 4, 1815 gives an account of “stones that had been watched rising in a field, near Marbleton, Ulster County, New York–that these stones had been seen to rise three or four feet from the ground, then moving horizontally, from thirty to sixty feet.”

–Charles Fort, Lo!, p570 (The Complete Books of Charles Fort, Dover, c1974).
