The results have been posted for the artist awards of the Game Chef competition. It got a Special Award!
The winner of the Up Close Award is dkfitch, whose beautiful white-on-black objects and people impacted me more immediately and on a more visceral level than any other art in the contest. Every element in each piece speaks volumes. The minor imperfections in the execution of the drawings far outweigh the uniqueness of approach and the boundary-pushing aspect of what the focus and style of game art can be.
I don’t think anything but acclaim is awarded with this, but I’m excited since it’s my 2nd contest attempt.
